Vacancy – Maintenance Mate
Abbey Forged Products is the UK’s leading forge master in the oil & gas industry and have recently acquired accreditations for the Nuclear and Aerospace industries. With over 40 years’ experience in forging, Abbey are specialists in creating bespoke products using open die forging.
We currently have an opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Mate who will be responsible for assisting Maintenance Fitters and Electricians as required in the repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Experience of working in a similar role within in a similar environment would be beneficial. The main duties of the role include: –
- Respond to all production breakdowns as instructed.
- Assist in the repair of machines ensuring a long-term fix is accomplished whilst also considering production requirements.
- General maintenance and labouring duties.
- Assist with the install of heavy engineering plant using lifting equipment in compliance with HSE policies
- Ensure timely completion of all planned preventative maintenance activities relevant to maintain the smooth running of the factory.
- Ensure all work is carried out to regularity and safety standards
This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. We would welcome applications from candidates with the following experience, skills and personal attributes: –
- Experience of working in a similar maintenance engineering environment
- A team player
- Knowledge and application of safe working practices
- Forklift Truck, Crane, and MEWP licences would be an advantage
- Quality focused, efficiency and attention to detail is essential
- Good organisational skills
- Prepared to work shifts and additional hours when required
- Reliable with excellent time keeping
