Duplex & Super Duplex Steels
Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steels are a specific family of stainless steels whose metallurgical structure consists of two phases (Austenite and Ferrite) in roughly equal quantities at room temperature. They were designed to provide higher strengths than standard austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316 whilst still maintaining good corrosion resistance, particularly Chloride stress corrosion and chloride pitting resistance, making them ideal for oil and gas field applications.
Abbey Forged Products have many years experience with these alloys, purchasing material to very tight chemical tolerances, designed to optimise the materials strength, toughness and corrosion properties, and have proven manufacturing procedures approved by many end users including Equinor, Exxon Mobil, BP, Shell etc.
