Vacancy – NDT Labourer

Abbey Forged Products is the UK’s leading forge master in the oil & gas industry, and have recently acquired accreditations for the Nuclear and Aerospace industries.  With 40 years’ experience in forging, Abbey are specialists in creating bespoke products using open die methods.

We currently have a Labouring opportunity to join the NDT department.  The main duties will include but are not limited to:-

• Ensuring work planned for the technicians is available and in a safe state.
• Transport completed work to appropriate area.
• Compile visual and dimensional reports.
• Assist NDT technicians in surface preparation of material in readiness for the NDT task to be performed.
• General housekeeping
• Perform and report Ferritescope tests when required.
• Perform and report PMI (Positive Material Identification) tests when required.
• Perform and report Mag permeability tests when required.

The ideal candidate will posses the following skills and personal attributes:-

• Forklift truck driving licence
• Pendant crane driving licence
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Flexible in working hours
• Good organisational skills
• Takes ownership of own work and performance
• Team player, able to work with others to deliver added value to the team and service
• Ability to compile test reports, for Mag permeability, ferritescope tests, visual and dimensional inspection or willing to learn.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Sheffield, hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm.
