Vacancy – Apprentice Furnace Technician

Abbey Forged Products is the UK’s leading forge master in the oil & gas industry and have recently acquired accreditations for the Nuclear and Aerospace industries.  With over 40 years’ experience in forging, Abbey are specialists in creating bespoke products using open die forging.

We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic person to join the Furnace and Combustion team as an apprentice.  The successful candidate will learn to maintain, repair and build manufacturing furnaces to required target levels, and to support the wider Maintenance team as required. The main duties of the role include learning to: –

• Fault finding repair and maintenance on all aspects of furnace equipment – this is from an electrical and mechanical view point, but more heavily waited on electrical works.
• Respond to all production breakdowns as instructed.
• Set up and perform temperature uniformity surveys to both quality and customer requirements
• Routine calibration of control instruments, recording instruments
• System accuracy tests on both heat treatment and forge furnaces
• Maintain required quality records up to date and in strict accordance to NADCAP approval
• General maintenance and labouring duties.
• Ensure all work is carried out to regularity and safety standards
