Health & Safety Policy
Abbey Forged Products health, safety and environment
Establishing safety as a value rather than a priority communicates to our employees, customers, and contractors that safety is built into our culture, not something we do, to merely comply with regulations.
Continued improvement is fundamental to our principles, and can be demonstrated through the journey our business has taken.
In 2008 the Abbey Forged Products implemented and achieved third party accreditation to OHSAS 18001;2007 Health and Safety management system compliance, this was quickly enhanced by the additional Environmental accreditation to ISO14001;2004 system in 2009.
Abbey Forged Products has continued to grow our management systems and the department, together with our company has grown in accordance, additional procedures and innovations are a core to our developing culture and business needs.
Our personnel and their development are key to developing the changing needs of our business, this has resulted in continued investment in internationally recognised training programmes, and providers include NEBOSH, IOSH, British Safety Council, Investors in People and AITT.
Our approved body partners ensure our Health, Safety and Environmental needs not only meet but exceed current best practice directives.
2016 was marked by a change and transition of the environment management system to the recently introduced ISO14001;2015 standard, this preceded a decision to integrate our Health and Safety and environment systems.
During 2018 work was undertaken to integrate our ISO14001 and ISO18001 systems understanding that the Health and safety standard was to undergo major changes to bring it in line with the Environmental standard.
February 2019 saw Abbey Forged Products successfully transition to the new ISO45001; 2018 Health and Safety standard using our integrated system as a business, an achievement, that we are extremely proud to have undertaken being one of the first companies to complete the undertaking.
Culture and how it is viewed by both our staff and stakeholders are of the utmost importance to the organisation, we strive for continued improvement and a pro-active approach to the Health, Safety, and environmental challenges that we encounter.
Together we will develop, innovate, and meet any demands that present themselves in the future.
