NDT
Abbey Forged Products have its own in-house NDT department and offer fully certified products, supplying a variety of industry sectors.
We are currently approved to supply NDT for:
- Oil & Gas
- Nuclear
- Aerospace
- MOD
- General Engineering
All NDT operations are controlled onsite by our in-house level 3 and inspections are undertaken in our purpose built facility.
Our NDT Engineers all hold PCN level 2 qualification and dual certification compliant with the SNT-TC-1A scheme.
Engineers are monitored by regular internal inspection reviews, as well as an external yearly audit, performed by an independent specialised NDT establishment for conformation of competence meeting certification body requirements.
This ensures that only qualified and experienced NDT personnel are employed to undertake inspections at Abbey.
NDT Engineers are qualified to carry out inspections in the following methods;
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Procedures, techniques and scan plans ensure compliance to multi sector standards combined with a comprehensive range of Ultrasonic reference blocks in multiple material grades
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT)
Yoke and prods (Colour contrast and Fluorescent methods)
In house procedures ensure compliance to multi sector standards and verification of equipment and consumables are confirmed by in-process checks
- Liquid Penetrant (PT)
(Colour contrast and Fluorescent methods)

- Visual inspection (VI)

We are also able to offer further material verification test operations, these include:
- Positive Material Identification (PMi)
- Ferritescope testing
- Magnetic permeability testing
